Student-led chemistry magazine,
we aim to further your knowledge of the subject and to spread science communication.
Nuclear Chemistry
Our spring issue of The Catalyst covers the topic of Nuclear Chemistry. This edition features an array of fascinating articles from how we can reuse nuclear waste to how fusion energy could help solve the pollution crises.
Off-themed articles such as how the durability of pearls contributes to the field of materials science and the intriguing world of molecular gastronomy provide further reading to anyone not particularly engaged in nuclear chemistry.
Furthermore, this edition features our novel two-part series on Synchrotron Radiation.

Our mission
We are a group of chemistry students from King's College London aiming to connect chemists all around the world with our magazine. Whether you are just starting out your career in chemistry, an undergraduate or postgraduate university student, or even a professional chemist, we hope you enjoy reading our magazine and learn something new. We publish new issues regularly with each having an overriding theme composed of themed and off-themed articles, all investigated and written by us.
We want our audience to get a clear understanding of a variety of topics within the field of Chemistry. Not only can you read our issues, but we also offer, exciting interviews and book recommendations.
However, above everything else, we want our audience to see our passion for chemistry and hopefully, inspire others to delve deeper into this science.
Our founders
'The reason I decided to co-found The Catalyst not only dives into my personal interests within the field, but originates largely from a perceived lack of information when choosing a career path after graduation. Our innovative magazine attempts to address this issue by presenting broader areas within the subject pivoted around industrial applications and academia, ranging from therapeutic to sustainable chemistry and ultimately spreading science communication. '
'Enriching my knowledge about science by reading publications such as Nature has sparked my desire to co-found The Catalyst and tailor a publication to a chemistry loving and curious audience. My goal in this initiative is to provide a student’s perspective on sharing knowledge about the multifaceted and transversal nature of chemistry and the endless applications that this branch of science offers, thereby connecting chemists and budding chemists around the globe.'
'Having enjoyed writing since childhood, and being interested in exploring unknown topics, I decided to co-found this magazine to enhance my experience preparing for a career in chemistry. My vision for The Catalyst is to reach out to other (forming) chemists and show the potential, the variety, and the career options that our science has.'
